The Games

Here are just some of the games that we play. Many of these "games" are played by many other improv troups throughout this great land and may go by many different names. However, when you cut them open, do they all not bleed hilarity? We don't know, and we think that's a ridiculous question to ask.

Beastie Rap - A crowd favorite. We get words from you and rhyme them. Sound lame? Get used to it. Most improv games sound that way. It's when they are performed that they come to life in ways you've never imagined (Cue "A Whole New World").

My Movie - An opening game that gives good energy to the night. We get suggestions and then try to come up with movie titles and tag lines to the movie. If they are good enough, we'll do a brief scene from the movie.

Blockbuster Movie - The audience picks out a movie from a movie review book without anyone but the reader knowing the title (including the performers). We get the synopsis, and then act out our interpretation.

Scene in Reverse - Enough said.

Scatter Freeze - Our opening game staple. You give suggestions. We do brief scenes about them.

Final Freeze -Our closing game staple. You give one suggestion at the beginning, and then we do brief scenes about whatever the hell we want.

Drinking Game - This game was played every show for the first few years. Then, we got sick of it. It's still fun to do from time to time. We get crazy activities from you and then one of us (who heard none of them) has to guess what they are by receiving clues from the other guys. The catch? We can't speak English. Why not? Because that would make the game stupid and over. We also can't speak any other language. Why not? Because we are Americans.

Story - We tell you a story, group-style.

Rap About That Shit, Man! -This game is not played nearly enough. We get a suggestion, and then do a scene. At any time, any one of us can yell "Rap about that shit, man!" and the player who has been "called out" has to rap about whatever he was just talking about. Sometimes it awesome. Sometimes, it's very, very sad.

Follow the Leaver - The scene follows whoever just left it, kinda like a guy who was just broken up with by Carmen Electra.

One to Five - Start with one guy, then build to five. Each guy brings in an entirely new scene that everyone must adapt to. Then, it goes from five back to one.

Silent Tension - This scene starts slow. No talking from the guys or the audience. Eventually, one of us will speak, but you need to wait for the tension to rise first. Wait for it…

Open Scene - Just a free-frolicking scene based on your suggestion.

No Laugh Scene - Any time a person gets a big laugh, he has to leave the scene and can never come back as that character.

After the Joke - One of you tells us a joke and we do a scene based on what happens after the joke ends.

First Line Last Line - We get two lines. One to start the scene and one to end it. We fill in the middle…with love.

Circle Dubbing - We talk for each other, kinda like your boyfriend does for you. Eh? She'll have the rib eye and like it!

Hesitation - We start the line, you finish it. Just like Mortal Kombat. Finish him! Sub-Zero wins.

Neighbors - I have no idea how to explain this one.

Frustration - One guy wants something, and everyone else is trying to stop him. Hello, conflict. We meet again.
